Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death, injury, and property damage in the City of Columbia. The law requires vehicles to be equipped with certain lighting and other safety equipment; and the law prohibits the operation of defective vehicles. Reducing the number of unsafe vehicles on the roadway will improve community safety.
